Patricia Simmons is privileged to have studied and worked with some of the legends of the professional American Theatre, and some legends of teaching including Robert Lewis of the revolutionary Group Theatre, the innovative Lee Breuer originator of Mabou Mines, Jean Scharfenberg, student of Lee Strasberg and acting teacher to scores of Steppenwolf Theatre and other professional actors, John Sipes of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and Nancy Benjamin of the Stratford Theatre Festival and the California Shakespeare Festival.
Pat's teaching of acting incorporates a number of acting styles, methods, and techniques such as the Stanislavski, Boleslavsky and Suzuki methods, Peking Opera, Tai Chi, Cicely Berry, Feldenkrais, Linklater and Alexander techniques.
Many of her students have gone on to advanced training at Carnegie-Mellon University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Boston Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and many others.
Former students Katy Mixon, Ashley Brown, and David Holmes now work in film, and on the Broadway stage.
